2.02.09 Groundhog Day

Well, it mentions neither Mt. Fuji nor falling cherry blossoms, so we’ll have to deduct points for that.

I remember, once upon a time, seeing a T-shirt that proclaimed “I’M SOMEBODY’S FETISH.” It just figures in my case that she is in another country… And probably doesn’t speak my language… And is fictional.

I’m going to go crawl under my desk and cry for a while now. AND IT’S ALL YOUR FAULT! Of course, Rule 34 of the Internet being what it is, I may attract the newly-minted hiding-under-office-furniture-and-crying crowd. There’s hope!

Well you should be! Imagine the funny looks I got in the halls after spending 15 minutes in a fetal position under my cubicle counter, wailing and blubbering “Where’s *my* Japanese school girl?! Abloo-hoo-hoo-hoo!” It was a bad scene.

And I liked the haiku, anyway.

Honestly, seriously and for true, I don’t think I’d want a relationship/affair/whatever with a schoolgirl of any stripe, even seifuku-clad. When I think of how much of a complete dumbass I was at that age, I invariably cringe. And near as I can tell, kids that age are still dumbasses, for the most part, only now they come equipped with constantly-employed cellphones. I don’t think I could stand being around her long enough to… Well, anyway. I think anyone with a schoolgirl fetish probably hasn’t properly thought it through.

I confess I haven’t done much with the woodburning thing lately. My variable transformer arrived from eBay a bit back, but I only got as far as testing it. I haven’t really gotten as far as seeing how that can help me, or trying it with different wood types. I need to get back to it- I have far, far too many unfinished projects/ideas to let this one get dumped on the pile.

Now the woodcut idea, that’s just awesome. I definitely need to try that out. The tree pattern cuts surprisingly deeply into the wood, so it should work pretty well- the tree would be in negative, I guess. My tentative next test run is with masonite (at least, I bought some with the express purpose of trying it). That’s pretty much ugly and grainless, but I want to see how much development I can get without variations in woodgrain getting in the way. If it works, using the results to make prints would be pretty dang cool. Masonite is finished smooth, of course, so I think it’d work pretty well for that, if it’ll take the ink at all. I’m going to have to figure out how to actually make prints now. Thanks!
